A shy species, difficult to see. In the presence of the female, the male
performs aerial parades which he accompanies
by beating his wings lightly.

Length: 28 cm – weight: 100-180 g – longevity: 13 years
HABITAT
Light, airy woods, low-lying wooded areas, agricultural regions
FOOD
Principally seeds which it finds on the ground.
NEST
Fragile nest made from twigs, situated in bushes, two metres above the ground.
Both male and female participate in an incubation of 14 days.
STATUS
Hunting is permitted. Decline of 44% in the last decade.
